1998
2009
This has probably been the Retrospectives entry I've looked forward to the most:
The Compound
December, 1998
July 4, 2009
Some bonus shots: I shoved a single cutting of this plant in the ground--I'd hardly even call it planting--back in 2000 or 2001 and it has flourished as you can see. Photo taken July 4, 2009.
Home of: Jeanie Drake, Aaron & Joyce Knowlton, Amanda Larson & Jill Sharpe, Yeneer Merino & Winnelle Deleon, Heidi Scheffer & Amber Sell, Rachel Lombard & Shannon Gerber, Florian Diehl, Monica Cardenas Ortiz & Heidi Stahlnecker, and finally, Virle and Joeie.
Eric & Yvette Mahinay
On their wedding day. April, 1999
Ten years on and going strong, July 4, 1999
Ricardo Rankin, Rolly Verzon, and Me
Circa 1998/1999
July 4, 2009
June, 2009
The Yoshida Boys: Masa and The Twins
July 2, 2009
With two classmates that have long since moved away. This would have been sometime in the spring of 1999.
"J" started out the shortest, and now she's taller than "Pearl". July 4, 2009
December, 1998. Pictured are 3/4 teacher Jeanie Drake, principal Steve Namkung, Babs and Me. In those days joint worship was held in the lower grades classrooms. We opened the divider between the 1/2 and 3/4 classes and everyone crammed in, sitting on the floor for worship.
June 5, 2009. Now Joint Worship is held in the renovated lunchroom. Pictured are Babs, one of our student's parents, 3/4 teacher Rhonda Prokopetz and 1/2 teacher Cristina Sanchez.
Fall, 1998. It was just the 8th grade class and some staff members back then. . .
February 27, 2009. Now, it's the entire school!
The Paez Tribe
With Melissa Sell on the last day of school, June 1999. Everyone is present, even Noah.
July 5, 2009 minus Tito, Wylie, and Keisha. The tribe dwindles as the kids grow up and head out on their own.
And one last one--What's the similarity?
Look at these two pictures. On first glance you probably won't notice what's being compared. Different location, almost entirely different kids. Look close, and see if you can find the then and now. If you think you know, comment on this blog and I'll let you know if you're right.

I'll make a guess: Jether?
~Crystal
Nope. Jether's not in the first photo. He would have been what 1 or 2 yrs old at the time? Guess again!
my guess: the expression on Joy's face?
I love that Rusty is still in the mix at the compound! That pic of the Yoshida boys...that's priceless!! And I'm so glad that joint worship no longer takes place in 1/2 & 3/4 classroom! That would've drove me crazy!!!
. . .and we have a winnah. First photo was taken during her first grade year, which would have been 2000-2001. Second photo was taken at San Juan Beach on June 13, 2009.
I love how some things never change. :)
that was really neat Sean! it is amazing how things change so much! I hope your last bit on Saipan is full of more amazing memories!
